MBA Intern, Career Development
As an MBA Intern, you’ll get hands-on experience and access to a dedicated network of professionals, which will help you:
- Develop critical business and communication skills you can’t learn in school
- Launch a career in socially responsible/sustainable business, nonprofit management, or social entrepreneurship
- Build a network of contacts and colleagues in a range of sectors and industries
The MBA Intern, Career Development will play a key role in scaling Net Impact’s new career initiative designed to enable the next generation of leaders to find jobs with impact. The MBA Intern, Career Development will be responsible for refining and rolling out campus-based programming for impact job seekers. After a pilot in spring 2012, this program will launch on 50 campuses in the fall, helping hundreds of students navigate their impact job searches.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Career Development, the MBA Intern, Career Development is a terrific opportunity to develop and scale a key program, utilizing expertise in curriculum design, program development, and project management. This position will be an integral part of the Career Development team whose members are entrepreneurial, action- and results-oriented and work collaboratively.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Map the needs of student impact job seekers throughout the year
- Build on existing pilot materials to develop a year-long curriculum plan and program guide designed to meet needs of student impact job seekers
- Identify appropriate external parties to partner with for program content; conduct outreach and secure content partnerships
- Develop a rollout plan to launch the program across 50 campuses by Fall 2012
- Define key metrics and measurement tools for program evaluation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree required, current graduate degree candidate preferred
- Demonstrated experience in developing curriculum and/or student-based programming (experience taking programming to scale a plus)
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial drive and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- High standards for excellence and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and juggle multiple deadlines; outstanding project management skills

MANAGER, Up To Us Campaign
The Manager, Up to Us Campaign (a fiscal responsibility campaign), will play a pivotal role in developing, launching and managing an exciting new initiative around the issue of our rising national debt and its effect on the nation’s economic future. This challenge is positioned at the critical intersection of the business and public sectors and a timely topic to convene around during a presidential election year. The Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate and Donor Projects and will work directly with students at up to 12 colleges and universities to create campaigns that educate and spur action among students and their peers on our national debt and related economic issues. This person will be responsible for building, launching, executing and evaluating a high profile year-long campaign focused on developing meaningful engagement opportunities with students on campuses, and is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with the millennial generation and creating lasting societal impact.
Responsibilities
- Program development for an ambitious new initiative including strategic planning, detailed communications and work plans, evaluation and reporting processes
- Developing and executing a recruiting and selection process for campaign schools
- Building and maintaining close relationships with students, faculty and administrators at campaign schools
- Managing teams of students on campus including developing training, creating a calendar of educational engagement opportunities, fielding questions, site visits, and liaising with faculty and administrator contacts
- Developing a training workshop at the 2012 Net Impact conference
- Planning and developing communications including clear and compelling web and print collateral
- Designing and executing an innovative plan for keeping student teams engaged and informed via social media and online collaboration tools
- Working closely with Net Impact and funders’ marketing and communications team on press, supporting high-profile speaking engagements and announcements, and branding
- Managing a campaign judging process including working closely with a panel of high-profile individuals serving as judges
- Supporting evaluation of campaigns using metrics to track campaigns’ success in consultation with sponsoring organizations
- Managing project budget. Work with campaign participants to develop individual campaign’s budgets, supervise the disbursement of funds, and develop accountability structure for reporting purposes.
- Maintaining flawless communications with funding partner, including regular reporting
Qualifications
- BA/BS required, graduate degree preferred
- At least 5-10 years communications or education experience
- Familiarity with or interest in fiscal policy and issues preferred
- Experience in campaign development or higher education a plus
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Ability to meet intense deadlines while juggling multiple projects
- Razor sharp attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
- Outgoing, proactive attitude and a sense of humor
- Demonstrated research skills
- Computer-proficiency, particularly MS Office (Adobe Creative Suite a plus)

Vice President, Programs
The Vice President, Programs is a new position, created to help Net Impact launch and improve outstanding programs that are the core of our ambitious new 10-year goal to mobilize a new generation to use their careers to drive transformational world change. We are looking for a visionary leader with a significant track record of innovation and impact.
This individual will join the senior leadership team of an entrepreneurial and ambitious organization at a critical and exciting inflection point in our history. We are looking for a strategic, creative, results-oriented team builder with exceptional management, program development and implementation skills. This is a person inspired by Net Impact’s mission, who can think big and build movements and community, while also getting their hands dirty with processes, systems and data. They are passionate about online and offline community-building and content delivery and should have a strong interest in harnessing technology to build community and deliver content.
The Vice President, Programs will have high-level oversight over 3-5 inter-related programs and initiatives, with 3-5 direct reports and 10-12 indirect reports. Program goals include engaging and growing our community of changemakers, currently 30,000 members and 300 local chapters; developing robust career programming to help individuals identify careers that make a difference; inspiring people to get involved in our movement to change the world through good work; and supporting changemakers to drive change in their companies and organizations.
Responsibilities
Program design and development
- Lead bold and dramatic program designs that bring our 10 year strategy to life through our campus campaigns, career program, member and chapter community, and workplace change initiatives (note that workplace change is brand new and will need full program design)
- Support program teams to develop innovative, meaningful, and effective program pilots and roll outs; challenge program teams to innovate, take risks, and explore new ways of achieving our goals
- Identify and outreach to external partners to collaborate in advancing the sustainability agenda
- Help guide Net Impact’s transformation to a more digitally savvy and community-focused organization
- Collaborate with development team to meet funder and partner needs by ensuring programs create shared value with all stakeholders
Program execution
- Support multiple program teams to realize ambitious multi-year program goals and specific annual metrics
- Ensure effective collaboration and knowledge sharing across program teams in order to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness at meeting cross-program goals
- Engage external partners to enhance Net Impact programmatic efforts
- Support program teams to significantly grow earned programmatic revenue (membership dues, chapter dues, career program revenue, etc.) over the next two years; work with CFO and program teams to project and monitor revenue and expenses
- Meet and exceed funder expectations, and contribute to funder reporting and cultivation as necessary
Leadership and Team building
- Serve as a top organizational leader, responsible for setting a positive culture of enthusiasm and excellence, setting and refining strategy, and making difficult trade-offs
- Build collaborative, efficient, and highly functioning teams with our program areas and across other areas of the organization
- Support direct reports, ensuring their teams meet revenue projections, stay within budget, and make progress toward annual goals
- Report on programmatic achievements and challenges to the Board of Directors
- Hire outstanding new talent, as needed
Qualifications
- Proven track record of nonprofit program design and execution, ideally at an innovative and fast-paced nonprofit organization with annual budget of $3m and up
- A history of leadership, growth and results
- Entrepreneurial, creative, and ambitious, with a love for both creating new programs and realizing the full potential for existing efforts
- Experience building effective collaboration among internal departments
- Experience hiring and developing staff, coaching, evaluating performance, setting goals and measuring success
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- High standards of excellence
- Experience with business / private sector, either through working in the private sector or in working with companies as partners / funders

- 10+ years work experience; Masters Degree preferred
