Net Impact Undergrad
 |
Net Impact Undergrad is an exciting new program built on Net Impact's proven model of organization, inspiration, and education. Net Impact's membership has traditionally focused on MBAs, graduate students, and young professionals who wish to leverage their influence for the benefit of society, the economy, and the environment. As awareness of business as a means for social change spreads, we realize that it is crucial to involve undergraduate youth who want to know how they can translate what they learn in the classroom into tools they can use as socially responsible professionals.

In a 2007 Net Impact survey of undergraduate student opinions on the relationship between business and corporate social responsibility issues, we learned that 87% of students believe that business leaders should consider the social and environmental effects of their business decisions. And 77% wanted to find socially responsible employment at some point in their careers.
In response to this considerable demand, in 2007- 2008 Net Impact launched 24 undergraduate chapters in the U.S. and Canada to educate and inspire students around themes of corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship, green business, and other topics related to how business can be used to make a positive impact on the world. We now have undergraduate chapters on over 30 campuses, including one at a university in Ghana!
On average, Net Impact Undergrad chapters organize at least two events with 10-15 participants per semester. Events this past year have included bringing in executives from local companies to both highlight and discuss their socially responsible practices, hosting roundtables and panel discussions on the different manifestations of social entrepreneurship, organizing organic bake sales, touring LEED certified buildings, and mentorship programs with Net Impact MBAs.
