Internships
The Development Officer will play a significant role in Net Impact’s growth and expansion. Net Impact is currently growing over 20% per year and has a diversified revenue stream that supports that growth. Our plans call for significantly expanding our corporate, foundation, and individual support.
Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Officer will be a key member of the development team, driving our foundation and individual development efforts, as well as being the team’s principal writer for grants and other proposals. In that role, the Development Officer will have a well-defined opportunity to significantly impact our development revenue, while working as part of a small, growing development team. Proven success in generating successful development proposals and stellar writing skills are essential for the position. Experience with individual giving programs is also essential.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Position is a key member of the overall development team and will play a role in all areas of development strategy and execution, including corporate, foundation, and individual support.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Launches and leads individual major giving program by building prospect list, developing cultivation strategy, and supporting board and senior management in outreach
- Develops foundation pipeline through research and outreach with senior management and board
- Prioritizes and creates LOIs and grant proposals, including budgets and other material, through matching Net Impact and foundation funding priorities
- Analyze and segment current and former membership databases and implement appropriate solicitation strategy to increase individual donations
- Creates effective and compelling development materials, including proposals, letters, and PowerPoints
- Provides stewardship for existing foundation donors and project partners by overseeing project timelines, execution, and writing reports
- With Development Director, creates and implements a new fundraising initiative to broaden Net Impact’s appeal to university partners
- Partners with other Development team members in corporate prospecting and relationship management
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong interest in social / environmental sustainability and commitment to Net Impact’s mission
- 5-10 years development or equivalent experience with proven success developing funded proposals and managing major giving programs
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills
- Knowledge and familiarity with prospect research for both institutional and individual prospects
- Creative and entrepreneurial approaches to fundraising
- Experience with budget development and monitoring
- The ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs and experience with development software
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively
- High standards for excellence and exceptional attention to detail
- Flexibility and a sense of humor

The Program Associate will be tasked with helping grow our membership base and improve our membership benefits – working with groups across the organization including our chapters team, our impact programs team, marketing and communications, and development. You’ll have a chance to interact with the senior leadership team of an international organization and learn key skills in developing a product (our membership) and managing relationships (with our members). The role will report to Senior Membership Manager and be a key member of the membership team.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Help develop all marketing collateral and campaigns for membership– online and offline
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to determine how to improve our membership benefits and what new benefits to create, including regular acquisition and retention metrics
- Act as project manager for member education programs, for instance through our Issues in Depth program
- Assist transition of membership database and ensure quality of member data in new Salesforce platform
- Contribute to the develop of new programs that support our membership value proposition
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Required
- 1-2 years professional work experience preferred, marketing and/or communications a plus
- Strong writing and verbal skills
- Demonstrated analysis and research skills, quantitative and qualitative
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven multi-tasker who is flexible and comfortable in a fast paced environment

The Chapters Intern role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, team player to develop professional skills and gain exposure to nonprofit management and socially responsible business. The Chapters Intern will play a key role on the Chapters Team, helping to deliver content to our network and improve the quality of Net Impact’s chapters and impact programs.
The Chapters Intern will work under the supervision of the Program Manager of Chapters to support Net Impact’s network of 260+ chapters and 800+ chapter leaders. The Chapters Intern will work collaboratively with all members of the Chapters team, including the Associate Director of Chapters, the Program Associate of Chapters, and the Program Manager of Impact Programs.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage communications to chapter and impact program leaders, weekly and monthly e-newsletters, and custom emails to particular groups
- Support chapter leaders by managing our chapter leader website portal, creating new resources, preparing reports, and conducting chapter account maintenance in online and back-end systems
- Create member surveys and analyze survey data to understand and communicate current trends and future recommendations
- Other strategic projects to be determined based on educational background, experience and interests
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; recent graduate seeking professional experience

Net Impact is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Intern. The intern will report to the Associate Director, Marketing & Communications, and work closely with the full Net Impact Central staff. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate seeking practical experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or related fields and who is interested corporate responsibility and sustainability.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Creating sophisticated press materials - managing our library of current press releases/media coverage and designing collateral
- Developing reporter files for top-tier publications and influential journalists/bloggers, assisting staff in establishing relationships with new publications/reporters, and ensuring our database is current and well-managed
- Managing daily knowledge capture of media coverage and industry trends on social responsibility/sustainability topics, and sharing with staff and Net Impact membership through email, newsletters, social media, and our website
- Maintaining extensive online member mailing lists, and documenting growth for organizational metrics
- Assisting with writing and editing content for Net Impact website and publications
- Maintain Net Impact’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
- Provide support on additional marketing and communications projects, as needed
Required Qualifications

Net Impact is currently seeking an intern to assist with various tasks central to the organization’s mission. This is an excellent educational opportunity for someone who is looking to build experience in the nonprofit sector. The intern will work closely with the Senior Partnerships Manager, as well as other staff members, on projects that may include partnerships, communications, marketing, research, analysis, web design, and program-related work. The intern will work on external partnership projects, such as the Net Impact Pepsi Refresh Project Mentorship program and the Pioneer Employer Case Competition. Additional key responsibilities will be crafted throughout the course of the internship with consideration for his or her skills and interests, as well as organizational needs that may arise.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Help develop our partnership strategy, systems, and processes
• Assist in the program development of case competitions and programs for various funders and sponsors
• Correspond with program and competition participants
• Create surveys and reports to evaluate effectiveness of partnerships
