xpedx Campus Greening Challenge

The 2012 competition is now closed. | Open to: Graduates, Undergraduates.

With thousands of students congregating on campuses nationwide, it's no surprise that so many universities often have a Sasquatch-sized environmental footprint. But with a little effort and a lot of ingenuity you could help shrink your school's footprint — and win $1,000 to boot.

Take the xpedx Campus Greening Challenge by developing and implementing a Campus Greening initiative at your school.

Get your university to replace its cleaning supplies with nontoxic products. Perform an energy audit on campus facilities to identify potential energy savings. Start a campus-wide composting system. This no-holds-barred competition rewards the most creative, bold, and successful initiatives, so let your imagination run wild.

Participating teams submit a presentation of their initiatives and outcomes, and the finalists will be invited to present on a live webinar with Net Impact and xpedx. Throughout the competition, Net Impact and xpedx will provide support and input to teams to help drive their initiatives.

Congratulations to the 2012 winners! Read about their winning projects on the blog.

Why Compete?

It's not all about that warm fuzzy feeling you get from making your school more sustainable; there are cash prizes at stake, too:

  • $1,000 to the team that demonstrates particular creativity, initiative, and/or success through their campus greening project
  • $500 to the runner-up team
  • Make a measurable impact on your local campus
  • Develop core skills to prepare you for making change after graduation
