Monica Dwight (she/her/hers) is a Senior Program Associate with Net Impact, coordinating programs to inspire and equip young change-makers to transform their ideas for sustainability solutions into tangible environmental progress. Working at the intersection of people and the environment, she harnesses her passion, problem-solving skills, and love of learning to design a more sustainable and just world.
Prior to joining Net Impact, Monica taught English and led a sustainability campaign at a secondary school in the south of Spain. Upon returning to California, she worked in environmental education in San Francisco, informing and encouraging K-12 students about water and zero waste solutions. Most recently, she coordinated and engaged with youth across the USA to elevate diverse voices for the UN's COY16, the official youth event for COP26. She's very excited to bring her knowledge and experience of working with young people in the sustainability space to Net Impact's sustainability programs.
Monica received her B.A. from the University of California, Davis, where she double majored in Spanish and Political Science, focusing on foreign and environmental policy.
- I grew up wanting to be: A florist. Only in recent years did my dad express his concern about this career path, since I am allergic to pollen.
- When I need to relax, I: Escape to nature, preferably the ocean. Sometimes on a scenic hike, otherwise lounging in my hammock!
- The best advice I ever received was: To not worry about the rough patches in life. You could never climb the mountain if the sides were all smooth.
