Net Impact Reaches 100,000 Members

OAKLAND, Calif.; Net Impact is pleased to announce our newest milestone: 100,000 members. For the last 25 years, our global community of students and professionals has been transforming its passion into world-changing action. Achieving this milestone in membership is a testament to what teamwork, dedication and commitment can achieve.

Net Impact started in 1993 as Students for Responsible Business, with the inaugural conference convened by 13 graduate business students. In 1999 the organization was renamed Net Impact to market for the inclusion of professional MBA graduates. The undergraduate program began in 2007 and within two years had grown to more than 34 undergraduate chapters. Net Impact now has nearly 300 chapters around the world and 100,000 members. Chelsea of Boston University became Net Impact’s 100,000th member.

"We literally rang the bell when we saw we had our 100,000th member. And then to read about Chelsea and the incredible example she's setting for all of us at Net Impact-- it was a very happy moment,” said Chief Marketing Officer of Net Impact, Catherine Muriel.

Originally from New York, Chelsea is now a sophomore at Boston University where she was recently accepted into a dual BA/MA program.  When she graduates in 2018, Chelsea will have a BA in Environmental Analysis and Policy and an MA in Energy and Environmental Analysis.

Next year, Chelsea will serve as the VP of External Relations for Boston University’s Net Impact Chapter. She is passionate about showing companies that being sustainable is not only good for the environment, but also for business. “I want to be on the forefront of people showing companies that being green isn't just easier than ever before but extremely profitable with today’s technology,” she said.
