We recently asked Net Impacters to create short videos telling us how they plan to use their business skills to drive change.
When we started the contest, we knew our members were making a positive impact in the world. We’ve always been impressed with their passion. Now we’re impressed with their video skills, too – not to mention their creativity and dedication.
We felt more inspired with each video we watched, and we’re so grateful to everyone who participated. The five contest winners, chosen with our partners at Toyota, are tackling issues ranging from deforestation in the Philippines to public health in Rwanda (and a chance to decrease pollution by choosing the right craft beer along the way, of course). Each of the five winners will receive $2,500 to help jumpstart their ideas and a trip to the 2014 Net Impact Conference.
Take a look at their videos below, and find some handy resources at the end of the post.
Making movies without making a mess: Emellie goes behind the scenes on movie sets to reduce waste and bring other sustainability practices to the entertainment industry.
On the ground floor in Rwanda: Gayatri worked with biochemical and medical students to develop an affordable floor that decreases risk of several diseases.
Enjoying your beer even more: Want to know where your beer was brewed and how far it’s traveled so you can help reduce greenhouse gas pollution? Ric has an app idea for that.
Net Impact - Personal Impact Award Entry - Ric Loll Greenhouse Gases from Beer Transportation from Ric Loll on Vimeo.
On the front lines of climate change: Ryan studied sustainability in business school, and now’s he’s using his skills to protect particularly vulnerable oceans and forests in the Philippines.
Improving the post-lumpectomy experience: Innovations from Tyler’s company could destroy residual cancer in minutes instead of weeks, for a fraction of the cost.
