Center for Sustainable Business Program Manager

The Program Manager for the Center for Sustainable Business will have primary responsibility for maintaining relationships with sustainability-focused student organizations within the business school, conducting trainings for students, faculty, and staff on new sustainability efforts within the business school, curating the social media accounts of the Center, helping update the website, and keeping the Center current on campus-wide events and initiatives with a sustainability focus. Additionally, the incumbent will take on supervised information-gathering tasks as directed by the Senior Associate Director, including internet-based searches related to the topic of corporate sustainability and maintaining a spreadsheet of Pitt-based faculty, staff, and students whose work intersects with the primary programmatic areas of the Center. The Program Manager reports to the Senior Associate Director of the Center for Sustainable Business. The Program Manager will assist the Senior Associate Director in working closely with other departments and schools regarding curricula, special courses, visiting scholars, speakers, and conferences. The incumbent will also assist the Senior Associate Director as requested in gathering, organizing, and producing content for distribution to stakeholders linked to the Center, assist in preparations for the semi-annual Sustainable Business Forum meetings, and assist in organizing school-wide and campus-wide events for students, faculty, and staff to engage on sustainability-related topics, as well as anything else deemed key to the growth and vitality of the Center. The Program Manager must be able to work with some supervision, conduct themselves and represent the Center in a professional manner, work efficiently on multiple projects, and maintain good rapport with university administrators, staff, faculty, students, and representatives or other domestic and international partner institutions. Occasional travel and weeknight/weekend hours may be required. The successful candidate will be familiar with sustainability resources, programs, and initiatives in higher education settings. They should have previous experience developing or co-leading trainings on sustainability initiatives in an educational setting. Previous experience working with university facilities management or business and auxiliary services is strongly preferred. Must have prior experience working with student organizations; experience with student organizations that have a sustainability focus are strongly preferred. Experience in a university or professional setting is strongly preferred.  Superb writing skills are vital, as well as attention to detail, multitasking capabilities, and the ability to work in an extremely fast-paced work environment. Microsoft Office Suite, internet-based research, and web experience are required. Must be able to interact well with people at all levels. Other required skills include familiarity and experience with managing social media accounts.

Bachelor's and 1-2 years of relevant preferred. However, a combination of relevant experience and/or education may be considered, per University guidelines.

Passion for sustainable business is strongly preferred. Prior experience in a university setting is strongly preferred. Previous experience with business and auxiliary services in a higher education environment is strongly preferred. Experience posting to social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) is required. Occasional travel and weeknight/weekend hours may be required.
