Senior Manager, ESG Content


The Senior Manager, ESG Content is responsible for the development of NACD’s intellectual capital and education on major environmental, social and governance issues with an emphasis on creating original content and learning experiences that are insightful, practical, and actionable for corporate directors and boards. This individual works closely with the Director, Content and Thought Leadership in the development and execution of NACD’s content strategy.


Creates high-quality short-form content for members (research papers, blogs, articles, etc.), in addition to longer-form content, such as handbooks, on ESG. Topics will include ESG reporting and disclosure, board oversight of ESG-related matters, board governance of climate change, oversight of human capital management, executive compensation, and core governance practices.
Speaks on behalf of NACD at our own programs, both at the national and chapter-level, as well as external events (including participation in panels) and, when needed, engages media.
Contributes subject matter expertise to the design and delivery of major educational programs on ESG-related topics for corporate directors.
Identifies and pursues opportunities for product innovation (both existing and new products), including how we present our content across digital platforms.
Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in the governance/ESG community, including institutional investors, regulators, and other influential business associations.
In addition to coverage of governance fundamentals, actively explores “frontier” topics that will affect American boardrooms (for example, corporate purpose, stakeholder capitalism).
Develops deep, mutually beneficial relationships with specific NACD members and partners.
Directly supports commercial efforts by joining and contributing to sales and retention discussions.
Represents the content team. when needed, in discussions with the senior team and the NACD Board.
Refines content of other content team members by editing and reviewing content.
Identifies and develops ideas for content based on member and industry insight.
Manages content calendar and communicates calendar to internal stakeholders, including the marketing and member services teams.
Liaises with Chapter Advancement team to infuse NACD intellectual capital into chapter-level programming/events for the director community.
Collaborates with NACD Strategic Content Partner organizations (our sponsors) to produce content for corporate governance community.
Oversees professional development of junior content staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, finance, communications, English, history, social sciences, or another related field is required; master’s degree preferred. Must have at least six years of experience in research and/or content development. Demonstrated ability to manage several short- and long-term projects simultaneously, while also coaching junior-level staff. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization.

Prior knowledge of ESG/corporate governance issues is a requirement. Strong oral and written communications skills required. Quantitative skill set is a plus. Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems is helpful, but not required.
