About the Role

Alight is looking to fill a key role within the executive office. The Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives Lead will report to the CEO and work closely with Alight’s Executive Team. In this role, you will play a critical role transitioning Alight into its next era, led by a new leadership team and a new strategy. You will collaborate with the Alight CEO and broader Alight team to lead the planning and implementation of the new strategy including reorganizing the team, designing initiatives, establishing operational excellence, and engaging the community. You will work closely with the Senior Manager of the Executive Office and Administration.                                                                                             

As Special Projects Lead, your priorities will include:

  • Executive Team Effectiveness – Set agendas and prepare for weekly e-team meetings. Plan and prepare in-person e-team gatherings 3 – 4x/year. Co-lead projects with executive team members as needed. 
  • Internal Communications – Partner with the CEO to prepare monthly updates to the Alight team and board. Draft other internal communications from the CEO as needed.
  • External Communications – Identify and vet opportunities for the CEO to represent Alight externally. Prepare her for conferences, events, and speaking engagements.
  • Strategy and Goal Setting – Support Alight’s functional teams and country teams in setting strategies that align with the organization’s strategy. Set the framework for regular strategy shares from country and functional teams. Lead annual goal setting process for the organization, teams, and executive leadership.
  • Partnerships and Fundraising – Work closely with the development and communications teams to position the CEO for high leverage partnership and fundraising opportunities. Participate in partnership building and fundraising activities.
  • Thought Partnership: Act as an advisor and confidant to the CEO. Represent the organization externally. Gather and connect with industry leaders.

  • You’re strategic. You blend rigor with creativity. You keep the organization’s mission front and center and are able to push us forward on the path we’ve defined.
  • You’re a natural organizer. You enjoy making complex tasks simple. You believe in administrative systems and can make tedious processes feel seamless for you and your teammates.
  • You have a high attention to detail for your and others’ work. You pay attention to all the moving parts and their implications.
  • You write with clarity and directness, and can give easy to understand instructions to our stakeholders—Alight team and board, partners, donors, etc.
  • You partner with and adapt well to colleagues that represent different learning and processing styles (i.e., visual learners, verbal processors, etc.).
  • You thrive in a fast paced, complex, high pressure, and dynamic environment. You have clear processes to manage work but are able to shift and adapt as opportunities and needs emerge.
  • You’re relational and enjoy working directly with multiple stakeholder groups from all walks of life.
  • You know the importance of proximity and getting close. You are willing and able to travel to Alight offices in our locations around the globe up to 25% of time.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: average starting salary is $105,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
