Vice President, DoSomething Strategic

Location: is headquartered in New York City with a hybrid and remote work culture. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.


DoSomething Strategic (DSS) is the consultancy arm of—the largest organization for young people and social change. DSS has been advising clients in the government, nonprofit and private sector about how to engage the next generation of young people for good through an array of services, including market research, brand purpose audit, messaging and communications strategy, social impact platform development, and employee and community engagement program development.

The Vice President of DoSomething Strategic will be responsible for leading the DSS team - currently composed of 3 members - to create bespoke strategies for clients, enabling them to elevate and customize their purpose, impact, and engagement with young people.

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a member of the Executive Team, the Vice President will be responsible for solidifying DoSomething’s growth strategy and business development ventures, leveraging DSS’ experience, knowledge and expertise to secure new clients and deepen existing relationships, driving reach and revenue.

A strategic and inspiring leader with strong executive functioning and people management skills, the Vice President will instill a culture of creativity; innovation; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and stellar client service..


Business Vision, Development, and Strategy – 60%

  • Lead DSS as a differentiated and impactful strategic consultancy

  • Work closely with DoSomething and DoSomething Strategic business development teams to solidify our go to market and growth strategy over the next 3 years, consistent with the organization’s new strategic direction

  • Evaluate and identify all new revenue streams, market opportunities, service offerings, and prospects to secure new business while maintaining current relationships and staying true to our mission

  • Set, raise and exceed revenue targets annually

Client Service and Strategy – 15%

  • Oversee senior-level client relationships and key client work, ensuring that DSS delivers bold ideas and value to our clients

  • Devise and lead client strategy and project management

  • Lead strategist(s) in creating plans to support the evolution and growth of their accounts

Thought Leadership – 15%

  • Serve as public spokesperson for the organization and its work to amplify the voices of young people and social impact

  • Monitor and act upon new trends, opportunities, and key players within the social impact, civic engagement, and youth development sectors

Executive Leadership and People Development – 10%

  • Manage, coach and mentor the team while developing a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and high-performing,  creative, strategic thinking

  • Oversee and contribute to activities that fulfill organizational goals of strategic planning and maximize employee productivity

  • Act as a thought partner across DoSomething’s executive team on organizational development and design, and the effective use of organizational resources


  • 12+ years of relevant client-facing business experience and 8+ years of cross-functional management experience

  • Operational experience and ability to build processes for managing workflow with a heavy deliverable cadence

  • Experience in the private and/or public sphere and an interest in social impact, young people, tech, and innovation

  • P&L management experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate a position, gain consensus, problem solve, and implement organizational change

  • High degree of emotional intelligence with a proven track record of accountability and follow through

  • Demonstrated commitment to DEIB and continuous learning and development within this space

  • Strong ability to manage complex client relationships

  • Willingness to be hands-on, roll up your sleeves and lean into the work

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change
