HNP is seeking an Associate to join our team on a full-time basis. The Associate will support HNP project leads and staff with key assistance in client relations, research, and analysis. Associates contribute to client deliverables, facilitate project management activities, and track relevant issue areas and policy priorities. The ideal candidate will have existing subject-matter knowledge of energy policy and 1-2 years of professional experience. The role requires strong written, verbal, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently. We will only consider applications on a full-time salaried basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research and analysis that supports the advancement of climate and energy policy, including but not limited to federal climate funding opportunities, emerging climate technologies and solutions, industry-related business issues, and policy developments at all levels of government.
  • Complete writing assignments and tasks in close coordination with senior staff, as part of contributions to client and project deliverables.
  • Support senior staff with administrative and project management duties, including calendar management, internal project management, note-taking, and communications related to client work and business development.
  • Establish and maintain positive, supportive, and productive relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, energy, political science, public policy, engineering, or environmental discipline is required. 
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in energy policy at a consulting firm, government agency, or other mission-focused organization is preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of U.S. climate and energy policies and politics.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including diverse project teams, client contacts, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity.
  • Ability to multitask, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for addressing environmental issues. 
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
  • High proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • U.S. Work Authorization is required.

 

Salary: $67,000 - $67,000 per year
