Net Impact invites you to join us for a fireside chat with Stuart L. Hart on Wednesday, July 10th from 2-3 pm EST / 11-12 pm PST. Stu, who serves on Net Impact's Board of Directors, is one of the world's top authorities on sustainable business strategy and has published over 70 papers and authored or edited seven books on the topic.  According to Bloomberg Businessweek, he is "one of the founding fathers of the 'base of the pyramid' economic theory." In his newest book, Beyond Shareholder Primacy: Remaking Capitalism for a Sustainable Future,” Stu outlines the historical evolution of capitalism over the past two centuries to distill key learnings from these past cycles while exploring their implications for today’s business leaders. Net Impact CEO Karen Johns will interview Stu about his motivations for writing his newest publication as well as how audience members can apply the key learnings in the book to drive positive social and environmental change at their own educational institution or organization. Stu Hart

 

Stuart L. Hart is Professor Emeritus at Cornell University's Johnson School of Management, where he founded the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, and Professor in Residence at the University of Michigan's Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. He is also co-founder and former Director of The Sustainable Innovation MBA program at the University of Vermont's Grossman School of Business. A Fortune 500 consultant, Hart is one of the world's top authorities on the implications of environment and poverty for business strategy. He is the author of numerous publications, including the influential book, Capitalism at the Crossroads, 3rd Edition: Next Generation Business Strategies for a Post-Crisis World.

 

Karen Johns

 

Karen Johns is the Chief Executive Officer of Net Impact. Karen is a seasoned professional in the educational and nonprofit arena, with expertise in strategic planning, engaging diverse communities in philanthropy, diverse workforce strategy, and fund development to help institutions build more effective organizations. Karen joined Net Impact after a tenure as National Director for A Better Chance and serving as the President of the Johns Group, a consultancy specializing in nonprofit management and social business development in the US and the Caribbean. A graduate of Tufts University, Karen is founder of the Tufts Black Alumni Association and remains an active alumnae. Karen is a native of Jamaica and serves in an advisory capacity with several Caribbean-based organizations.
