Net Impact, in collaboration with Wayne State University, invites you to join us for our first event for Net Impact’s 30th Anniversary. In celebration of Net Impact’s three decade commitment to inspire, equip and activate emerging leaders to use business as a force for good, this event will feature industry insights and career advice from seasoned sustainability executive Dave Stangis. Dave currently serves as Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer at Apollo and is a former Board Chair of Net Impact. In conversation with Net Impact CEO Karen Johns, Dave Stangis will reflect on his career journey across technology, food, impact entrepreneurship, consumer products and finance that will leave participants with insights on how the field of sustainability has evolved over the last three decades, career advice on how to navigate a dynamic and ever-changing field, and the current and future trends of corporate responsibility.

Dave Stangis
Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer at Apollo

Dave Stangis is Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer at Apollo, where he oversees the firm’s cross-functional sustainability efforts including strategy, reporting, ESG, climate initiatives, and employee engagement. He is also a member of the Firm’s Leadership Team. Prior to joining Apollo, Dave founded 21C Impact, an advisory firm dedicated to delivering a differentiated impact on business results with a focus on ESG and corporate sustainability initiatives. Previously, he was Chief Sustainability Officer at Campbell Soup Company where he created and led the company’s ESG, Corporate Citizenship, Sustainability & Public Affairs strategies. Dave joined Campbell from Intel Corporation, where he served as the Company’s first Global Director of Corporate Responsibility. Dave currently serves as a mentor to the AgFunder Network. He previously served as Executive Adviser at the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, Entrepreneur in Residence at Babson College, and Instructor in Villanova University’s Sustainable Enterprise Executive Education program. Dave earned his BS in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Detroit Mercy, MS in Occupational & Environmental Health from Wayne State University, and MBA in Finance and General Management from the University of Michigan.

Karen Johns
CEO of Net Impact

Karen Johns is the Chief Executive Officer of Net Impact. Karen is a seasoned professional in the educational and nonprofit arena, with expertise in strategic planning, engaging diverse communities in philanthropy, diverse workforce strategy, and fund development to help institutions build more effective organizations. Karen joined Net Impact after a tenure as National Director for A Better Chance and serving as the President of the Johns Group, a consultancy specializing in nonprofit management and social business development in the US and the Caribbean. A graduate of Tufts University, Karen is founder of the Tufts Black Alumni Association and remains an active alumnae. Karen is a native of Jamaica and serves in an advisory capacity with several Caribbean-based organizations.
