The Net Impact October Chapter Magnifier is… Duke MBA Net Impact at Fuqua Business School!

The Fuqua Net Impact chapter held their 11th Annual Day in Durham at the beginning of the school year to celebrate the Durham community and its thriving network of social and environmental impact organizations. This year’s event sold out, with over 200 student attendees.

Designed to introduce first-year students to their new home, Day in Durham has six tracks participants can follow for a tailored experience: Education, Healthcare, Sustainability, Impact Investing, Social Entrepreneurship, and Entrepreneurship for Community Revitalization. The day’s events included a keynote address by The Redwoods Group President and CEO Kevin Trapani, excursions to local organizations, panel discussions, and a happy hour.

Day in Durham allows Fuqua students to explore the ways their MBA education prepares them to address complex social and environmental issues. Attendees came to the event with different goals in mind: some intend to pursue careers in the social sector, others plan to be conscious from within corporations, and still others saw it as a way to get acquainted with the city.

The Fuqua chapter leaders say cross-club collaboration, coordinated planning, role delegation, and an early start were crucial to the event’s success. They involved 11 other clubs on campus, noting that collaboration helped them engage a wider audience, support the event financially, and grow a team to make Day of Durham a reality.

Congratulations to Duke MBA Net Impact!
