On Earth day, we as the Net Impact club had a fantastic time at the sustainability hub, and got inspired by the anti food waste focussed initiatives happening in the Netherlands currently. We are keen to get involved.

The Damn Food waste event will be held in Rotterdam on the 14th June. With a free mega lunch for about 5,000 people, made of vegetables that would otherwise be discarded, Rotterdamers will take action against food waste. At the event, there will be a joyous festival programming where several initiatives that work against food waste will present themselves. As volunteers we can experience this up close. There are different positions where you can help out. If you're passionate about cooking, why not join the kitchen team that will prepare 5000 meals? If you're more of the DIY type, then why not help out setting up the beer tables and tents. The event aims to result in an increased awareness amongst the community in order to bring about a curb in food waste, as it has been reported that a third of food is wasted in the Netherlands.
