Unlocking the potential of the informal sector Part of the work to meet young people in there workplace and discussing ways of tackling unemployment in the country.

The youth is important in the Gambia. Over half of the population is young people. Young people are the key to the development and the future of the country. However, like in many other African countries, much of the youth is unemployed. The transition from school to the labour market is a difficult one for young people. They face two challenges-a lack of jobs and inadequate skills. Increased employment is a development goal here in the Gambia.

Youth unemployment can result in other problems i.e poverty, illegal migration, mental health problems and so on. This makes it a huge problem which needs to be addressed.

At Net Impact-The Gambia, We promote skills development and entrepreneurship. Do you think this could be a good way to tackle youth unemployment? Or are there better ways?
