The goal of the event and campaign was to create connections across Carlson’s many identities, interests, and majors, and start the conversation on topics such as gender, faith, ethnicity, sexuality, and mental health. By starting these conversations now, within the landscape of the business school, we are better able to prepare students for work with diverse groups of people in organizations. More importantly, it creates a culture and norm of appreciating diversity throughout the university, the workplace, and society in general. The event consisted of a social media campaign that led up to the event. During the social media campaign, one-minute interview videos were released, with each highlighting a current Carlson student and their perspectives on one of our main topics. The culminating event at the end of the campaign featured a short panel, as well as time for group and individual discussions, as a way to start in-depth conversations about these topics within our school, the workforce, and society.
