Interdepartmental Meetups are informal small group meetings among students from different departments at UNC to discuss a social issue that interests them in a relaxed setting off campus. Typically, a TED talk is chosen before each meetup as background to get the conversation started. However other media (short journal / newspaper article, video, etc.) are also encouraged. The goals are to 1) broaden the group's understanding of social issues by each sharing their different perspectives and experiences on the topic and 2) get to know other people on campus who have similar interests. Discussions are on an equal footing among peers. There are no right and wrong responses or direction for the conversation to lead. Meetings are held at coffee shops, restaurants, or wherever the group would like to meet.
