Carey Net Impact and Taproot Foundation Present:
Baltimore ScopeAthon
A Pro Bono Day-of-Service Event!

Saturday, October 24, 2015
9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business

What is the Baltimore ScopeAthon?
The Baltimore ScopeAthon will connect nonprofits in Baltimore City with volunteer professionals and students from JHU's Carey Business School for a half-day of pro bono service. Teams will help community organizations translate operational challenges into clear project scopes of work to deliver immediate value to nonprofits. ScopeAthon is a half-day problem solving event in which nonprofits partner with Taproot Foundation pro bono consultants in areas such as HR, Marketing, Strategy and Technology. Together, nonprofits and consultants discuss and diagnose a critical challenge facing a nonprofit organization, then scope out a project to help address and overcome the issue.

Why Pro Bono?
According to Maryland Nonprofits' 2013 sector report, over 3,200 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations work in Baltimore City. A striking 70% operate on budgets of less than $100,000, and many lack access to the professional resources needed to achieve their mission. Pro bono allows business professionals to use their skills, such as marketing, information technology, strategy, finance, and human resources, to drive impact. Access to quality pro bono helps nonprofits more effectively serve communities.
