WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Senior Ethics & Compliance Director reports to and works with the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer to oversee all aspects of The Nature Conservancy’s Ethics and Compliance Program which functions as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates ethics and compliance issues/concerns within the organization. They ensure that the Board of Directors, management, and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies and organizational policies and procedures and also helps build a culture of compliance within the organization. They are responsible for designing and implementing ethics and compliance training across the organization.  This position implements strategy to manage and monitor internal/external risks by improving the coordination, dissemination and communications of compliance information and identifying gaps in compliance.  This position will entail extensive interaction with other departments within the Conservancy (Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, and Human Resources), as well as Senior Managers throughout the organization. The Senior Ethics & Compliance Director will act in the CECO’s stead on all issues in the CECO’s absence and will regularly move forward internal organizational initiatives and decisions with the authority of the CECO. The Senior Ethics & Compliance Director may be required to make substantive decisions on short timelines during periods of travel for the CECO.


Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Provides leadership and guidance for the implementation of the Conservancy’s Ethics and Compliance program.
•    Establishes training priorities, develops and coordinates all related training programs, and allocates training resources efficiently.
•    Maintains and updates the organization’s formal Risk Assessment program.
•    Maintains, updates, and provides organizational oversight of The Conservancy’s policies and procedures.
•    Manages investigations of allegations of noncompliance with Conservancy policies and procedures, which includes establishing and providing direction and management of the Ethics and Compliance Hotline.
•    Establishes and oversees a reporting and accountability system ensuring compliance with identified violations and to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

•    Advanced degree in a compliance-related field or professional licensure or certification (e.g., JD, CPA, or CFE).
•    7 years of relevant experience, including experience working in a large, complex multinational organization.
•    Experience practicing sound judgment and strong decision-making around problem-solving, including acting with the utmost integrity, and with strict discretion and confidentiality as appropriate.
•    Communication skills and high level of organization and attention to detail. 
•    Experience with relating to senior management regarding difficult and complex issues, including experience delivering presentations to senior management.
•    Database management skills with ability to organize, analyze and interpret data and produce reports.
•    Experience developing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals, including collaborating across functions in connection therewith. 
•    Experience with prioritizing and managing competing tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic environment and to work effectively and remain calm under pressure.
•    Experience leading and managing a team, including through influence in a matrixed environment across multiple geographies.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Experience with non-governmental organizations a plus.
•    Big 4 accounting firm/banking experience a plus. 
•    Multicultural experience and/or multi-lingual skills appreciated.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $140,000 - $180,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
