Key Focus Area: Circularity, Responsible Production and Consumption

Achieving economic growth and sustainable development requires that we urgently reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources. - Goal 12 from The Sustainable Development Goals Fund

Everything that grows and is created on Earth eventually returns to where it began - the Earth - where it can ideally grow again. However, without responsible production and consumption, the cycle breaks and we can no longer grow what we need to survive. Our economy is already growing at a rate that is unsustainable and at the expense of nature. More than 100 billion tons of resources flow into the economy every year, and more than 60% ends up as waste or greenhouse gas emissions.

At Net Impact, we continually ask our creative community how we can redesign unsustainable systems, reuse daily products, and reimagine the role nature plays in society. The resources offered on our site inspire our chapter members to practice and incorporate sustainable design into their education, careers, and lives. In addition, our partnerships with leading organizations offer the opportunity for chapter members to bring new ideas to scale.
