Network Collaboration

Network Collaboration

The diversity and global reach of our chapters makes it a unique setting for collaboration, which we believe is an important aspect of participating in a Net Impact chapter. As chapter leaders, we strongly encourage you to build partnerships and relationships with other chapters, community groups, and organizations.

Active chapters collaborate meaningfully both within the network by forming relationships or working with other Net Impact chapters regionally or globally and outside the network by working with other clubs, organizations, or businesses.

Tracking your chapter's collaborations

As part of our administrative requirements, we collect an annual report from chapters each April. Make sure your chapter has the information required to complete the report by keeping comprehensive records of your collaborations throughout the year.

Collaboration details to track include:

  • Chapters, organizations, businesses, or clubs collaborated with
  • The nature and success of the collaboration
  • Contacts for your chapter to use in the future

Ideas for in-network collaboration

To collaborate within the network, your chapter can form relationships or work with other Net Impact chapters in a meaningful way. Here are some ideas for in-network collaborations:

1. Cohost events or programs with other chapters

Your chapter can cohost with one or multiple chapters in your area.

Examples of cohosting:

  • Graduate chapters from the Research Triangle in North Carolina cohosted a regional chapter happy hour at the Net Impact conference in San Jose
  • The Boston professional chapter collaborated with nine student chapters in the area to host a Career Summit on the impact space
  • The NYC professional chapter ran a pro-bono consulting program that the NJ professional chapter helped facilitate with their members

2. Participate in competitions other chapters host

Some chapters host competitions that other chapters can send teams to participate in. Competitions can be both regional or remote.

Examples of competitions:

  • University of Colorado, Boulder Leeds School of Business Graduate chapter hosted a Net Impact Case Competition
  • Many chapters competed in regional Hult Prize @ competitions hosted by other local chapters

How to participate:

  • Keep an eye out for chapters reaching out about competitions they are hosting
  • Contact the Net Impact Central chapters team at chapters@netimpact.org for potential information on other chapter competitions

3. Market and attend other chapters’ events

A great way to collaborate regionally is by marketing another chapter’s event to your members and sending a group to attend that event.

4. Share best practices with other chapters

One of the best ways to find new ideas for your chapter is to connect with other chapters to share best practices. This form of collaboration is a good option for those that are not geographically near other chapters since it can be done remotely (via email or phone).

Examples of best practices and ideas to share:

  • Event and program ideas
  • Growing your membership base
  • Partnering with the local community
  • Fundraising and finance

5. Help launch, build, or mentor new chapters

This is an opportunity for strong chapters in the network to help strengthen or build new chapters. Learn how to start a new chapter.

Examples of helping new chapters:

  • Recruit leaders for the new chapter
  • Guide new chapters through the launch process
  • Connect new chapters to potential local partnerships
  • Share best practices

Ideas for out-of-network collaboration

Collaborating with clubs, organizations, and businesses outside the Net Impact network is a great way to form partnerships, build awareness of Net Impact in your community, and expand your member base. Here are some ideas for in-network collaborations:

1. Cohost events or programs with other clubs, organizations, or businesses

Your chapter can cohost with one or multiple groups in your community or campus.

2. Participate in competitions outside of the Net Impact network

Send and support a team or multiple teams to participate in outside competitions related to your chapter’s interests. Competitions can be both regional or remote.
